Been trying to get hold of Image Point Event photography since Thursday to obtain permission to use a photo of Betsy in ads for her, however have had no luck. Left a message on their landline (which they give as their main number) on Thurs, left another today, and one on a mobile number I found, and emailed them early this afternoon. I have no other photos of her, and am getting really quite annoyed about this. What should I do? I can't sit around waiting for them to get back to me - horses cost money every day they are sat in the stable!

I have to admit I have advertised before in a similiar situation crediting the photographer. I think when you have made every effort I would use it. I have to say though my photo was 6 months old and as such I'm not sure the photographer would have picked it up.

Just say that youve got the permission ( even if you havent got it) ! ( I have done that because of the same situation- naughty but no-one did/said anything)

Could it be that they are actually busy?!

I have been approached many times asking permission to use a photo - polite request always works wonders! We all have a shared interest, appreciate the burdens (and joys!) of horse ownership, and I never charge.

However, I did see one of my images (since the photographer retains copyright) used without request - invoice for unauthorised used then sent off to the culprit. Photography is the only way I make a living - to encourage copyright theft is simply irresponsible.

Many event photographers frequent these forums - just be aware of how your comments may be seen.
