Impaction colic - good vibes needed.

This should probably go in veterinary - but more people seem to read this forum.

My poor horsey has been at the vet hospital in York now for nearly 48hours with colic, we got him there quite quick after he presented with colic symptoms. They seem to have been working on him non stop lunging him to get gas out and then putting fluids into him via a stomach tube to try and dislodge the blockage. This has been going on 24 hours now and I was really hoping that last night some of the blockage would have started to be passed - but nothing

I am waiting for a phone call this morning to tell me how he's been over night before I go visit him again today.

Does anyone have any experience of this or words or advice / encouragement. I am so fearful as time goes on, surgery is looking more and more likely.

Our old horse had impaction colic and had to go to horsey hospital for treatment - I think it took about 48 hours to work, but thankfully he avoided surgery.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the prognosis for your horse is just as good.

Thank you for your vibes, the vets seem positive about the treatment - its just the waiting and the helplessness I feel thats bothering me. Just hoping and praying he manges to poo it out today.

good vibes for you i know exactely how you feel my horse had colic in june but he had to be operated on his colic was due to a hernia he is doing sssoooo soo well now im riding him a lot now to started riding in sept! is he at liverpool if he is they are amazing!

Super has suffered one bout of impaction colic but recovered well

Now when she has hard feed, I have to put a bit of linseed oil into it. The vet says she'll require linseed oil for the rest of her life otherwise she could suffer again

My horse got colic in June and it was feared he would have to have an operation. Thankfully the colic cleared although he did develop laminitis as a side effect. He has fully recovered now though and did avoid surgery

Fingers crossed your horse gets better soon. The waiting is awful as you feel so helpless.
