Importing a horse from America

Has anyone ever imported a horse from America in to the UK - is it difficult? expensive?

Yes I have - about 4 years ago now - It cost about E3,000 but that was over to the Uk and then Southern Ireland. The company arranged absolutely every detail for me, horse was coming from Tennessee and was shipped down to them in Texas, had quarantine and all vacs there and then flew into Antwerp and over to the UK by boat.

Not sure what their prices would be now or if the horse you are after would be near enough to Texas - but they would probably know of other people over there.

Yes I have done this loads with my SJ horses. We went in and out of New York and Canada as well as Florida. We were based in VA. quite expensive but the more you ship the cheaper, your best people to use are Pedens bloodstock (in teh UK) they organise it both ends and if a mare or stallion the quarentine as well

Some of the Morgan horses go to and from the USA, so they could tell you.

30 days pre quarantine in USA
Tests (more expensive if mare/stallion)
Flights and then road transport

Contact either Pedens, IRT, BBA Shipping or LG Bloodstock

All of them have offices in the USA and will be able to tell you the exact costs
