Importing a horse from Ireland....

I flew over to look at horses and bought my lovely ID boy. All the shipping was arranged for me by the dealer who was fantastic and it cost me £250 door to door Galway to Lincolnshire

Yes fell in love on holiday, bought her and they arranged shipping. Still have her 10 years later and she is the best impulse decision of my life.
Sorry to slander the Irish, but IME you may need to attend quickly to worms and teeth.

yes i have, it was straightforward and transport was cheap but 'buyer beware'. For vettings and try to be there yourself if you can;) It didnt work out for me simply as I didnt have enough time to really do my homework about the horse and try him a couple of times to make doubly sure and check things out for myself. Instead i trusted people’s word and shouldnt have, he was nothing close to what id wanted and has a lot of ongoing issues. So Id say fine for someone really experienced with lots of confidence but not ideal for the average low level RC person like me. They are often started differently and although on paper they may have done more by a young age this isnt necessarily a good thing. There are just as many fab horses for sale here I think too, you just have to look in the right places :D Mind you if you know what you are doing and are looking for a lovely unspoilt ISH youngster to back yourself then that may be a different proposition, as long as you can sift the wheat from the chaff.... there is a lot of chaff out there.:)
