Ive found myself a palomino gypsy cob filly but shes in Ireland. he said in the price she can be transported over because he transports to england every week, ive never done this before is there anything to be aware of? Also when she gets here should i put her in quarantine away from my horses to be wormed etc?

thank you

Be prepared for her possibly being in foal! Ireland really isn't that awful, so its not necessary to take any precautions beyond what you would do with a youngster you bought locally.

As its a new unknown horse I would impose my own "quarantine" on her, for a week keep her away from the others, worm, delouse and get vet in for jabs and a check over.

Better safe than sorry!

Any horse coming onto our yard gets a three week quarantine (the incubation period for strangles). In that time they also get wormed, before going out with any other horses.
