I am looking to import a horse from mainland Europe to ireland and I would like to know if anyone has before and roughly how much it was. I just want to know a rough cost before I contact any transport companies.
Any transport company will want to use and import agent as you will need international health certificates correctly filled and you will also need to overstamp the horse passport with a UK Studbook. A transporter might offer a better price if you let them fill a spare space in a lorry and do check the DEFRA website to see if there are any restriction on where you are bringing the horse from
