Hi all, I was just wondering if it was worth trying to convince my farrier that they might be worth a look for my boy. Typical low heeled, flat soled, no frog thoroughbred that is a nightmare trying to keep sound especially with this hard ground at mo. Any comments gratefully appreciated on experiences with them - thank you in advance.

Sorry can't comment on their use, but was talking to my farrier today about them. Have you looked on their website? My horse is going for x rays in a couple of weeks and if he gives the go ahead we are going to give them a try so will keep you posted. I have just watched a video on how they are fitted - quite long winded (hope you have a patient farrier!) I think they work out at about £150 a pair also so not cheap, but if my boy can keep them on longer than nailed shoes its worth a go in my opinion.

Would be great to know how you get on. TBH £150 a pair not so awful if it means i can keep him sound and in work, as very talented - always the way isn't it? It costs me a small fortune every 5 weeks anyway with solepack etc, but we find this doesn't always stand up to the rigours of work, or damp fields!!

I read about these in Horse magazine recently. It certinaly looks very interesting but a tad pricey as you say. However, if they can last longer and mean that a horse is sound, I think that's brilliant. Well done to the people who have created them

they are usually used for laminitis.. in your case i think you should speak to your farrier.. he may suggest solegaurd, equipak or even bar shoes.. i cant see imprint shoes being the idea for your horse.. and to be franc.. they are way to expensivE!!!!!!

Have you considered or tried 4 point / natural balance shoes?

I switched hmmm early this year to natural balance shoes. My horse is low heeled, long toed and to make it worse, has long pasterns ;p

I switched after his new farrier had been nagging at me for a while to consider them. I must admit i was a little bit of the opinion that at 16 years old and having always been shod the same way, it might be too much change. Never the less i went with the idea and the difference has been amazing. Hes gained a few mm's in depth to his heel (i know it sounds nothing, but to a horse with no heel, its massive). His trippyness has stopped (due to an incorrect breakover point) and his paces have improved.

I wont go back at all. Im even currently paying my farrier even more to travel to me since we've moved out of his catchment area. We're paying around 150 pounds per set for jack, but we're also in denmark and the cost of shoeing in general here is higher.

Just a thought!

My mare had them last year when she got acute laminitis had xrays and Imprints were the way to go in helping her rehabilitation not the best photo but you get the point.

she had them on for 4 weeks at a cost of £150 just for the fronts.
She now has NB shoes all round to support the foot and help the break over point
