Now that we are going to have some hot whether (she says with fingers crossed) i need advice on what to do with pony. he doesnt have any shade in his paddock and at the mo doesnt have a fly rug. there is also quite alot of grass in paddock and he certainly isnt wasting away. what do i do? get fly rug and just bring him in on really hot days or do i bring him in everyday so that he has a break from grass/flies? only problem is that he will be in on his own.

Our beasties are now in during the day, mainly because the previous hot wet weather was making the grass too rich for Toff and she was getting colic (and the are both a little porky

) However it was a blessing in disguise as they actually seem really happy with their new routine, no flies, sun burn and they get shade. They are also clean and dry when I get home from work so can ride

Maybe he could have the radio on when he is on his own? Although our 2 seem to spend most of the day asleep (when not eating...) so he may be ok!

mine is in during the day, out at night. hes in on his own and manages just fine, he has a few toys to keep him occupied but to be honest i think he just sleeps!

I like to keep mine in during the day, they just go to sleep. I tried to turn them out early yesterday 3pm but they were going mad being chased around by flies so brought them back in and put them out at 6pm with fly rugs on. They are much happier in the stable out of heat and flies.
