Beth is due to foal end April/beginning of May, (its her first and mine!), and from having been ENORMOUS from quite early on we noticed in the last two weeks that she seems to have changed shape, and the "sticking out both sides" belly has dropped a bit and looks like its reduced in size. Immediate panic on part of mum! Is this normal? Is it maybe that the foal has changed position, or should I be worried that something's wrong with the foal? She does still have a bit of a belt around her field every now and then, which worries me as well!
And yes I'm another one who is going to be sleeping down at the stables when it seems like she's close to foaling ... buying my camp bed this weekend!
She's in foal to Caretino Glory and I noticed that one of his yearlings was advertsied in H&H for £12,000 last week!!! Mind you, the dam was The Tourmaline Rose ... (I should be so lucky

Absolutely normal, don't panic!

The mare's tummy looks to get a 'dropped' appearance as the foal is pulling the body down. She will also get a dipped back appearance (not always) and she will look a bit poor when it gets to nearer the time. I didn't think Han would because she was so well covered, but you could see her spine, her ribs and the bone where her tail is attached.
