My arab mare was last covered on 4th August and scanned in foal in September. I picked her up from stud 10 days ago as I wanted to make sure the foal was well established before travelling her home.

Yesterday my mare was definitely in season as she was flirting like crazy with my geldings and peeing all over the place. Has anyone ever have a mare that is definitely in-foal show signs of coming back in to season and still be in foal? I'm really worried in case she has lost the foal (although I haven't seen any sign of this & the stud haven't either). I can't get her to the vets to be scanned for another week due to work commitments. Anyone got any experience of similar situations?

yeah mine did and carried her foal fine, although she showed to another mare as i kept her away from geldings as they can pester mares and more sensitive ones can slip the foal in the easrly days.
lots of mares can show a season when in foal.

Thanks for your response. How far gone was your mare when she came back into season? The only reason I've turned my mare out with the boys is because she is used to all of them and always seems happy with them. She hasn't seemed distressed at all being back home.

One of my mares was covered in the May and she continued to show "seasons" the whole way through the breeding season - then a foal dropped out of her in April. I sold her to her new owner in the July believing that she likely wasn't pregnant, however told the owner that there was still a chance that she was. Owner was pretty pleased with the outcome.

she stayed at stud until she had a 30 day scan and come home at 40 days into her pregnancy.
she showed in season to her best pal about 5 weeks after than.only once and not a really tarty showing either(just a bit of winking not the usual floods of wee everywhere!LOL)
i got her scanned at 100 and then 150 days to check all was well and it was fine.

My mare was also covered on 4th August! She had her 40 day scan at stud and when I brought her home she showed signs of being in season on day 65. I got my vet to check her and she was still in foal. She is currently in season again, but this time I am not concerned as the vet said that it would be obvious if she had miscarried at this stage. I would get your vet to check her over just for your piece of mind!
