Really can't decide. Arrived about 2 months ago, looking a bit scraggy, and although I have good grass, I think there is something a bit suspicious about the sudden expansion of the mid section! What do you think? Photo is not representative of how humungous this horse actually is!

Wow - I'm a bit surprised by this! Judgemental much!

I just think an allegedly experienced horseperson like yourself should know better and should have thought to have this checked before you purchased / kept it in safer conditions :rolleyes3:

I'm trying to work out if you're actually a total novice, or if you just don't care about your horses :(

Err! I can't really be held responsible for what happened to a horse before I owned it. Are you saying everyone who buys an old horse as a companion ought to have it scanned? You'll be telling me I should've had it vetted next, and its back, teeth and saddle checked!

Yea I am, actually. I can't believe you've been hammering that poor old horse into the ground while it's in foal, and without any vet checks / saddle checks / dentistry. It's disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself.

This is akin to abuse.

(Smokey sported similar this summer after his holiday... On his spindley legs it looked even worse!)

We don't actually know its in foal, and I certainly haven't been hammering it. Its called "Getting it fit!"

I get the distinct impression there is a backstory to that comment?

Otherwise how could you possibly know if a mare has been covered before you buy it, say if it was covered only a couple of months before you bought it? I've known of 3 bogoffs in real life and each time the mare popped a good few months after purchase so had clearly only been covered a short while before purchase. Stupid question, do vets check mares for pregnancy when they take bloods? If so, how far along does the mare need to be for the pregnancy to show up? Disclaimer - I've had bog all to do with breeding in the past other than knowing the bogoffs, hence possibly silly Q.

Oh yea, I've seen the photos on facebook of you ragging it up and down the field, it dripping in sweat and you battering it with a whip to make it go faster :(

Have you never heard of the Fartlek training system? I'm interested to know how you can tell I've "battered" it! Last time I looked, there were no videos! Freely admit to giving it a wallop for being a lazy toad - but I cannot abide horses who are behind the leg.

Wow this post got "exciting"quick

Popcorn?

I can see the cuts and wheals from the whip on its flank in the photos :(

Errm - I think you'll find that those marks are the Danish Warmblood brand. If you want to be really nasty, you can have a go at me for the hot brand that was cruelly applied 19 years before I bought the horse!

Well by buying it, you are indirectly supporting the person who profitted from the branding, so yea, I think that's pretty goddamn awful too, now you mention it...
