I need to get some tighter fitting trousers as the only dark ones I have that aren't jeans are wide legged work styley ones. But having looked around, I can't find much in dark blue that aren't jeans! :( I did find some dark brown cords but none in my size (so annoying!!) so still on the hunt and wondered if plain dark blue jeans would be ok?

If not, suggested very much so welcome!! Going to Bristol on Saturday and really hope I can get something!

What size are you? I might have some dark blue ones that would fit - they are a small 12 and for someone who is not more than 5'2 tall.

Denim blue/black jeans are a huge no no, though some people do wear cream jeans in cord or thick cotton.

If you go to M&S they do jean style (as in the cut, but fitted to an extent so very smart) in this kind of mole skin stuff, but its not really think, also they do a cotten type that is quite stretcy, anyway there not expensive and they do them in buff, cream, dark blue, dark green....basically any colour that would look good with a hacking jacket or shirt tie with tweed waist coat.

Also if you fancied it, you might actually find a pair in charity shop, might be worth a look.

Etd. as I've found the link to a pair.

Try Primark in Bristol. I was there the other day and they have some nice blue trouser type things, nice and light weight and cheap they would be ideal for you :) :)

I have worn cream cords before. I would say no to any actual denim type jeans.

Anything dark coloured (if the horses legs are white) will do over jeans (or leggins!)

I would wear jods and boots over jeans.

A top, top cuddy winning producer wore jeans at east of england last year, and won, but for us mere mortals that do not know the judges, I would steer well clear of jeans. Try the places like primark, matalan and tesco - I got my dark showing trousers from tesco.

My beige trousers are techincally jeans label says 'Ralph Lauren Denim' (£12.99 TKMaxx!) but they don't look it.

Navy ones are from Dorothy Perkins

White ones for studbook shows are definatly denim! But that is a very different kettle of fish to showing.

Thats terrible. I have a couple of friends who judge at a high level and their advice is that you should do your best to look the part and not stand out for the wrong reasons. Anyone who makes a glaring error in turnout, they feel they can pretty much ignore as they obviously don't know what they are doing. If they have a large class to judge, they are looking for reasons not to consider you - and this will vary from judge to judge, but those reasons can be anything from wearing jeans to incorrect trimming, wearing jewelry etc.

If you have the right turnout for you and horse, and are entered in the right class, you are halfway there!

Ditto this, my showing trousers are from M&S and are a thick cotton-y type material cut like a tight pair of jeans, plus they do them in three leg lengths. :)

Like so! They definitely do them in dark colours too.

Thanks guys, some great suggestions. I didn't think I could do jeans but I just couldn't seem to find anything fitted that weren't jeans. I went to matalan but nothing and primark didn't have much either. But the one in Bristol is waaaayyy bigger so I'll be heading there and M&S :)

Thanks Theresa, unfortuantely I'm a 16 so no good but thanks for the offer :)

Hopefully I'll have a successful hunt tomorrow :D

I got my beigey creamy ones in matalan, they had a huge selection. I also got my canary shirt there in the mens shirt dept. all reasonably cheap and they look great.

Thanks peeps :) I have now found the perfect pair of brown trousers, nice slim leg and comfortable so all good. Found it in my local clothes shop of all places, after spending hours looking around bristol lol! Oh well, let's hope it all pays off for my first show in Saturday :D :D
