Where can I find details of classes I can take a 2year old to? I've done a few searches online but this seems like a long process. Is there a list somewhere or is this wishful thinking?

She's a warmblood registered with BWBS, bred with the hope that she'll event but I think she's turning out to be a dressage candidate.

I'll be taking her to futurity at Sunnybank in August but I'd like to do some in-hand classes over the summer and if all goes well continue next year. This will be my first attempt at showing/evaluation so I am a little nervous about it as I don't know what to expect exactly eventhough I've read the guidance notes over and over.

What classes would she be eligable for?

How early? Are there a set number of spaces per class and once they are taken no more entries are allowed or just a deadline? Sorry if this seems like a really stupid thing to ask and thanks for your help.

Have you got a picture of her? Is she a heavy warmblood, or a lighter warmblood? She might suit hunter classes better thn sporthorse classes.

I show my youngsters in hand at county level, and most entries close over a month before the show date. If you want to do some local shows, check out horsedates.com although most local classes lump all yearling, two and three year olds together.

There is no harm in trying a few county shows if you can get entered into some ASAP.

Don't know where you are based, but if you (or anyone else) is looking to get your youngsters (or any other age out for experience) then don't forget we're holding a charity in-hand horse show in Newmarket on July 6th. As for the 1, 2 and 3 year olds being lumped in together, then yes, as a local show we are doing this BUT we've got separate awards for the highest placed yearling, two year old and three year old. We've also got mare and foal classes if anyone has missed out on a County show and wants to get their baby out (County Panel judges for all classes).

Zoeshiloh - we've tried to cater for everyone. If you've got any suggestions for classes for August 31st show, then let us know - there's still time before the Schedule goes to print. If you like the July schedule, wait till you see what's on offer in the August show!

You mean you don't know about it!!
The Newmarket In-Hand Charity Show - July 6th at the Animal Health Trust, Kentford, Newmarket and then a similar show on Sunday 31st August at Exning Park, Exning (opposite Rossdales veterinary hospital). There are two rings - one for TBs (raced or not), all ages from mares and foals, including those raced on the flat, over jumps, never raced, etc. etc. and then a second ring to cater for M&M, Arabs, Coloureds, etc etc. We've even got classes for those horses with scars and blemishes. Got great sponsorship from the likes of Darley, Tattersalls, Shadwell, Racing Trainers, Jockey Club, Rossdales, Frankie Dettori, Willie Carson, Channel 4 Racing, etc. Trophies to all winners, great rosettes, plus additional awards to many. Lots of extras to be won in classes. August show is being drafted so we're still open for class suggestions and have loads more prizes on offer on this day too. July entrants MUST have up to date vaccination passports on orders of the A.H.T, but the show is open to everyone in August. If anyone wants a Schedule, then by all means, PM us and we will email one immediately back to you. To qualify for the additional prizes, entries must be received by 1st July. Entries (especially for the TB classes) are beginning to come in now - but if you've got a TB which did N.H. racing - come along - as only 1 entry in that at the moment. The classes are strictly limited. All Panel judges. Everyone welcome - monies going to racing charities plus CLIC Sargent.

You're welcome to do the mare and foal class because that's open to all breeds (separate award for highest placed TB mare and TB foal though). The judge for the mare and foal class will be either Sue Rawding or Justin Barrett (both breeding people as you may be aware). In the August Show, you will be able to do any class you want to do within that Schedule - it's just that for July we're only allowing foals to do the one class as we feel if it's a late born foal, we don't want a poor foal being dragged around the ring all day long until late afternoon Championships, but come August, hopefully the foals will be that bit older that if any owners want to compete both mum and/or baby in any of the classes, they will be eligible to go up against older horses and our judges should be able to see what they will turn out to be. There is a Competition Horse class in August that you can enter both mum and baby separately for if you wanted to along with a Coloured class for the baby. We have no objection or rules not to allow a mare with foal at foot to contest the other classes.

Well we agree with you as organisers of this particular show - because there are classes we could enter all our horses for as well so if anyone is holding something similar within a couple of hours drive from Newmarket, do please let us know. Before anyone asks, we never ever show our own horses at anything we've helped to organise) We unfortunately couldn't make it to Suffolk County with one of our mares and foals this year to contest Small Hunter Broodmare and Foal (a class our foals have won every time we've entered a foal) and the Sports Horse class, due to handlers ill health on the morning of the show (mare and foal ready and waiting to be loaded). and have just heard that our entry for Nofolk Show never arrived! So come on you lot, how about organising a show that we can bring our lot to. If you want any help or hints as to how to go about it, just ask.

I would love to help organise something like this where we live, I could even maybe provide a field (40 acres big enough?). However I don't feel I have the experience or the knowledge on my own.

Unless you have a coloured or a veteran it seems there is very little on offer in our area. We do have a few county level shows but not many, we have also lost Durham county show now so that's another one gone

However there is nothing for sportshorse breeding, small hunter breeding, riding horse/hack breeding, etc.

If anyone is willing to do something in the north east of England along these lines I would be interested in helping!

Anyone?????

if she is registered with a certain breed association then you will be able to find the appropriate shows. if she is a show pony breeding then you can do BSPS and NPS, they always have something for everyone
