Hello,

I'm thinking (dreaming!) about taking mr Fell pony to a show in the summer. I thought I'd start thinking about clothing and turnout now as then I can spread the cost over a couple of months not suddenly go crazy in July!!

I have an in-hand bridle (sourced from a good friend who used to show Fell ponies) so pony is sorted. I was planning on cream trousers (pony is black) and then a shirt, tie, waistcoat and hat with gloves and cane. I don't really want to have to splash out on a tweed jacket yet as we will only be going to one or 2 shows. That should be OK shouldn't it? I was thinking a striped showing shirt and then either yellow, red or green waistcoat. What do we think, is red too radical and bright for an M&M in-hand, should I stick to yellow? Will a leather or suade "cowboy" style hat be suitable?

Also any ideas for getting showing gear quite cheap, I am stalking ebay but most of them seem to be for people under a size 12, I'm needing a size 16 as, like the pony, I am generously proportioned!!

The main advice that I can give you for what to wear would be to make sure your comfortable with what your wearing. Most people wear tweed jackets but you do see some people in waistcoats, so as long as your happy you'll be fine.

Check out the pics in my sisters websites. Lots of photos of my fell and other m&m being shown inhand and ridden. http://crphotos.suddenlaunch3.com/index.cgi

Have fun
