Which bit would you recommend to show a PRE gelding in-hand ? I just wanted to do some low level in-hand showing to gently get my new baby boy used to shows. Ultimately he will be doing ridden shows only so I don't want to spend a fortune on in-hand equipment / Spanish serreta etc. I was thinking cheapy inhand bridle but which bit ?? Would a brass ring straight bar be OK ? I am a showing virgin :) My friend said she has a newmarket chain to lend me. Thanks

If you are showing in PRE breed classes then it should be either a serraton or a Spanish showing headcollar with a chain (available from Plateau Iberian on FB). However if you don't want to go the whole hog a normal riding bridle with a snaffle bit and leather lead rein on a couple should be acceptable.

Hi thanks Cortez - I don't want to go the whole hog right now - just a couple of in-hand shows for my young boy to gain show experience. I'll settle for the snaffle then. You never know I might love it and want to do more ! I would get a serreta then :) thanks for your help.

Also check the BAPSH page on Facebook - there will be plenty of pictures of other people's turnout and I'm sure a similar question has been asked before. Are you going in for PRE classes or 'foreign breeds'? I suspect the latter would be more flexible.
