Im wanting/thinking of getting a smart hat to wear when Im showing this summer, hopefully be going on the ol' santa stocking list :) I've looked at different ones at shows and I can never dicide, some look too dressy and others I think look a little rubbish.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I bought a smart navy blue waistcoat to wear so needs to co-ordinate colour wise with that....

xx

What about a navy 'trilby' style. I've seen loads of these in the ring, but haven't a clue wher you'd get one. Personally I wear my old velvet riding hat, but I guess it depends on what classes you're in. :)

I wear a navy velvet with nude leather harness riding hat. But I show my 16hh rising 3yo gelding who tends to have a 'spring' in his step at shows, so I like to wear a riding hat. I wear it for hunting too, and will wear it for ridden showing with the young man in a couple of years.
Trilby styles look smart too, as Carlosmum says, it depends what classes you will be doing. x

I do generally too, but when I see pictures of my horse and I showing all I see is 'hat'.

In the perfect world I would probably french plait my hair but I cant do that and I dont generally have a capable pair of hands that can, so I need a hat I can put over my messy hair... plus I need to hide the fact that my hair is of a redder fashion colour which wouldnt look very smart when showing. xx

I wear my Fiona hat, I see people in trilbys and things and they look fab, me, I look ridiculous in them :D I saw a young boy showing his Fell in a flat cap and he looked v smart.
Anyway, like LauraC I have youngsters as well, so prefer a bit more 'hat'.

I know what you mean about hair, I wrap mine into a bun and put a hairnet over it to keep it in check!
Your hair colour shouldn't be too much of an issue as long as you're smartly turned out, the judge will be looking more at the horse than your hair (or they should be!) I know a girl who does well showing her cob, and she has purple hair!

I wear a Charles Owen beagler for showing hunters and sports horses in hand.
I would never ride in it tho and take it on board that a proper riding hat and harness would be safer. However not compulsory
