Taking mums cob to his first showing show in a couple of weeks and I've shown hundreds of time but always hunters/sports horse/riding horse. We're just doing the in hand coz the ridden classes aren't until late afternoon and there's only really 1 we can do. My question is is he ok shown in his bridle? It's black with white stitching (mums idea not mine) with raised browband and noseband and a snaffle. I know a hunter bridle is probably better but I don't have a black one and he's never been in a double bridle. It's just a low key novice event but just want to be the odd one out.

Hi!
Hunter bridle would probably be more correct, but you can show in a snaffle, I would have a lead rather than reins though.
Good luck!

I'm wanting to do a lot more showing with him next year anyway so maybe I could piece together a plain bridle out of things we already have. It's just he's got a huge nose! Do you mean like a chain or strap linking his bit rings then a rein attached?

Probably worth getting the right kit if you want to do more with him- in which case maybe try a Pelham and then have two reins?

I'll see what I can piece together from past hunter showing. Definitely got the Pelham and reins just maybe need a cheap black hunter bridle to make him look posh. Am I ok in jods, boots, shirt, coloured stock and jacket? Again never done much in hand always ridden classes

Ideally you should not be dressed for riding in an in-hand class but at a local level, you probably wouldn't be the only one - some handlers will be riding in the later classes.
If you opt for in-hand gear, swap your jodhs for a pair of smart trousers, in the opposite colour to the horses legs with short boots that you can do the trot up in safely. A shirt and tie would be better than a stock. A hard hat is always a good idea.

Brown tack is more usual in showing classes than black.
