In hand showing advice for complete novice!!!!

I have just been given a 3 year old coloured mini shetland colt.(still entire)He is registerd with the shetland pony stud book.
What in hand classes can i show him in?
Do i show him with a bit in his mouth?
What do i wear?
And any other useful info needed.

If it's just small shows I would put him in youngstock and/or small m+m. That's what I do with my friend's mini, she is only 2. Bigger shows often have classes specifically for Shetlands.
