Stuck record... Another show question...

County level show, reins or inhand lead rein... Does it make a difference?

I'm assuming the lead rein is correct but have seen numerous people just using reins...

For horses of ridden age, 4 and over, they should be shown in a riding bridle with reins taken over the head, not a lead rein and coupling, that is for non ridden horses.

Sorry I am hijacking your post! I did not know this! I am showing my horse (8yrs old/ridden) in hand at a local show and thought I needed a leather lead and chain? I thought it looked smarter than just taking the reins over their head? Oh my goodness, I have so much to learn!

Bridle with the reins over the head :)

Native ponies get shown in inhand bridles not matter the age. But can be shown in double bridles.

Plaiteds get shown in inhand bridles until they are 3yo. 4yo and over should be a double bridle with reins over the head.

Coloured 3yo & under inhand bridle. 4yo & over double bridles.
