I was told that really when you are showing in hand you wear the opposite colour trousers to the colour of the horse, eg dark horse - light trousers, light horse - dark trousers..

Where would chestnut come in this? Bit of a bright orangey chestnut so kind of in the middle lol :D

In that case I would go with what you have and what works with your tweed. Given a choice though I would probably go paler - a dark beige perhaps?

Yep i wear beige too, looks well with tweed, i'd use that with a chestnut.

The idea is when you trot up that your legs stand out from the horses, if you wear black trousers with a horse with black legs then the judge would struggle to see the horses legs.

Thanks for your replies :)

forestfantasy - thanks that's interesting to know about the trotting up part, however he has two hind looooong stockings and a fore sock, would you still stick with the beige?

ThePony - Think I will prob go with dark beige :D

Depends who's judging. If you're male and Queen bee is judging, I'd just dispense with trousers entirely. :D
