Hi, I've got a 3 year old warmblookxTB who I have just started showing in-hand. She is very laid back, and well behaved at shows (she has only done 2 and has been beautiful!) but I need her to sparkle (i.e have more presence/ have more spark) in the show ring more, she seems to turn off when she gets in there and and dosent walk or trot up in hand anywhere near as well as she can. Anybody have any tips?

maybe before your class take her into a corner of the field (where no other horses are) and get someone to rustle a plastic bag behind her as you trot her up, just to get her a little more wound up without winding everyone else's horses up at the same time.

Make sure you trot your horse forward and strong and look straight ahead.

dont panic ! just practice at home and she will get the idea. It took my youngster a few shows to stop her making me look like a nutter dragging a stuffed horse on a rope! it seemed to click with her one time and she is fine now - unless the beer tent is ringside - she is facinated by noisy marques for some reason!

thanks that sounds encouraging, I've got another show sat so we shall see..she showed off alot when we were following a shetland in the coloured class, maybe I just ought to get her one of those?! Lol.
