So having sacked off Eventing as it’s prohibitively expensive and giving my event Horse the gift of a happy hacker life that he is thrilled with, I am turning to my little 3yo rescue pony to scratch my competitive itch
He is just 3, a native type (Welsh X) and super stinkin cute, which I know counts for nothing but he really is. I don’t think he is badly put together at all hence why’ve I’ve decided to dive into in hand showing this summer.
He’s entered up for some unaffiliated “local” agricultural shows in the Native/Cob/traditional coloureds (1-3 year olds if they have age classes) but I have NO IDEA what I’m doing.
What is etiquette for the ring? What should I be doing in the individual go round? Any big “no nos”?
I have attached a picture. I plan on wearing black trousers, black boots, tweed jacket and a riding hat mainly because this is all I have and I’m not spending money on something I’ll likely only do a handful of times! He is bitted in a brown bridle but wondering if he’d be better in a flat leather noseband?
Any advice greatly appreciated!
