Is it ok to show my three year old in a normal bridle? If so do I pass the reins over her head to lead or take them off and attatch leather lead rein??

You should use either an in-hand bridle with newmarket coupling and leather lead or a snaffle of double bridle with the reins over the head.

No way a 3YO should be shown in a double bridle.

As she will be in youngstock classes and maybe open classes, you should have an inhand bridle with a newmarket coupling - personally I prefer leather ones to the chain ones and lead rein. You can have a rubber in hand bit or a metal bit. I found Chancer far preferred a small ring copper bit to the usual rubber inhand bits.

Do not show her in a double bridle at this age or a bridle with reins over the head - incorrect for youngstock but once she is in adult classes at 4 you can.

However, I personally still show my chap in his inhand bridle and lead rein.
