In hand showing

Hi ,
I have a 2 year old gelding who is 3 at the end of April, this year I am aiming to do in hand classes but am unsure if he has to have a bit he is proving to be very chilled out if that helps ?
Does anyone know?

He will be in his third year so I would bit him. You can get a nice happy mouth or rubber bar for him. It will also be good for when you back him. Good luck.
