I'm planning on taking Blue (non-trad cob) to a local riding club show for some in-hand showing. However, I've just realised that the lovely green tweed waistcoat I've ordered probably won't be here in time, and I'm now confused about what to wear.

Rest of me will be in fawn breeches and country boots (which I know is wrong), and I was planning on wearing canary show shirt, navy tie and tweed waistcoat. I'd really rather not wear my tweed jacket - I'm going to be sweaty enough trying to keep up with her trot! - and my only other waistcoat is black suede.

Suggestions for what I might be able to drag together?

Swap the breeches for some navy trousers, if you can wear the tweed the do, if not do you have a smart gillet that you could use of a smart v necked dark jumper

Country boots are starting to appear more and more in the inhand ring so I wouldn’t worry about that, I’ve used mine loads even at county shows

Go for dark blue. Its what I wear even when showing horses with dark legs

The only alternative to the breeches is black skinny jeans. After buying the waistcoat, I'm not buying anything else. This is just a local, riding club show, and I'm going purely for the experience of getting her out and about. I love her to bits, but I'm realistic enough to know that she doesn't stand a chance of winning anything, so the showing definitely won't be a regular thing.

Go for the black skinny jeans in your country boots. It is more correct than breeches

I personally hate loathe and despise country boots being worn in the ring but it is the done thing these days. It's even worse when kids wear them with jods. Kids should always wear short boots and joddy clips!

As to contrasting colour - if the judge can't tell the difference between a human leg and a horses leg then they shouldn't be judging!!!
