I have seen an In Hand Trec competition near me. What obstacles are used? I used to do Trec with my horse, so I have a bit of an idea, but it was a time ago.

So I'm guessing S shape, standing still unattended for 10 seconds (hands behind your back), backing up between poles. What else?

I'm no expert just going on the local arena competition I go to they do all the same ridden obstacles just led. So corridor, bridge, bending, jump, figure of 8, 'mount' (lean over), tear drop, bramble tangle I'm sure there's more but memory failing me now.

Edited to add, great education for youngsters and fun for small companion ponies!

Full list of possible obstacles available above

As above the rule book has great info on obstacles

We use some of these for in hand classes -
Cloverleaf
Bending
Figure of 8
Corridor
Low branches
Jump
Bridge
S bend
Ditch - tarpaulin
Gate
Neck rein
Rein back
Ticket punch
Immobility

Also for in hand classes there can be obstacles such as -
Turn around box
Horse style

If the obstacle isnt in the rule book you should be sent the data sheet for it when the start times are sent out
If there is a course walk try and do it as the organisers/judges will be able to tell you whats expected at each obstacle

Pretty comprehensive here, also the control of paces is a slow trot and a fast walk over a shorter distance.

It’s fun and something different for horses/ponies to think about
