In or out today?

Charlie is in during the day and out at night at the mo. It's just sooo hot with sooo little breeze!!

Yes I am thinking the same thing at the moment. I plan to keep her out for a couple of hours then bring her in when the temp peaks. Wasn't sure if I was being over protective.

My guy is normally out 23 out of 24 hours a day. But yesterday he was in from 10am to 8pm as it was sooo hot. Going to do the same today with him.

We must have our own micro climate in the North West as it has been perfect for horses here. Overcast with a breeze and not too warm. Perfect :)

Our's are out 24/7, unless they're in to be worked for an hour or so. :)

All have plenty of huge hedges and trees to hide under though, and streams to wallow in.

I agree. Just as they put in a hosepipe ban, it rains a bit, then its nice and overcast! Horsey weather!
I would say move up here, but it rains too much :D

Mine is probably standing at the gate at this moment wanting in as it is peeing down here! Suppose I'd better get go and rescue her.

Ours come in at 8am and go back out after 6pm every day. They are at the gate waiting every morning, desperate to come in and chill. We have no shade in our paddocks and since Weds we seem to have more flies too and they just want to escape.

Mine's in every day to get him off the grass, the fat pig and to let him sleep properly-sparko within an hour. It's way too hot for a hairy cob and being coloured, he burns a treat. His stable is in constant shade in a quiet area.

Mine are out. There's a nice breeze coming across the open fen and they tend to stand/lie that side of the field and snooze. Beans scared the hell out of me yesterday when I pulled into the yard, as she was so flat out I thought she was dead

mine in as the flies are horrendous, they cant wait to get up the track into the stable. Thought I would have a rest in the summer from going up twice and having them in, fat chance

My boys are in today as although they get hot in the stable they are out of the sun. We have no shade and very little breeze.
I slap loads of fly spray on, big hay net and let them have a snooze inside.
We have no grass at the mo either...more like crispy dust so at least i know they are getting something in their tummies.
Might give them a bath later to let them cool off and give them a bit of a refresh...i'll have to use buckets of water as we have a hosepipe ban here!!!

Mine comes in every day around 7am then I go up after work ride and then turn out.
Works for us on lots of levels, keeps him out of the sun/flies; he lies down after breakfast and sleeps till lunchtime so he has a good sleep; has a big pile of haylage so it's doesn't matter if there's no grass in the field and in more normal years keeps them off daytime grass.

By the way I don't know about the current bans but it used to be that hosepipe bans don't apply to stables and farms. In fact I remember one drought when I was a child and my parents ran a hotel. We were still allowed to use a hosepipe to top up the swimming pool nightly as it was necessary for the business.

Not that I would waste water but I might still cold hose an injury

Just looked it up - you are allowed to use a hosepipe to water and wash animals

Oh ok. I'm in Wilts. Not heard anything here, though I don't tend to pay that much attention tbh!

I take it me watering the show jumping paddock isn't classed as necessary lol.

Oh well!

My boy is in during the day, the flys are a nightmare here and he is allergic to fly spray, will not keep fly rugs on and its too hot to be out in it. He's in from 9-5 x
