I'm sat in my tack room wonder what to do

Was going to bring them in this eve for the first time in 11 yrs. as I'm supposed to be stabling all winter but have put off

Have no power. Check the boxes I've sent age putting mirrors up in and boxing off an ok concrete feeder One has a leek but all 4 are wet where the rain gets in

Now I do have a barn with 4 stables in but still no light. 1 massive stable and 3 smaller, half sized maybe 10x10. But they are not the best looking things. But would do. They are dry but the walk way in front is wet. And I've not had time to clean them up

Do I leave the horse out or bring them in to the barn stables

They have a massive barn with a newly delivered bale in it however 50-60% of the floor is an nice deep in water. Luckily the other side to the hay. And my Shetland is somewhere in the field but I can't see him.

Everything tells me to stop being soft they've lived out with no shelter for this long. They can cope tonight. Then I can stop the small stables out in the day light tomorrow???

Go find the shetland, it will make you feel better. If they seem miserable out, bring them in, otherwise sort out the smaller stables tomorrow. Good luck with the leaks etc.

they all seem ok, eating some hay that the farm randomly left outside, so im worrying for no reason. guess im worried about them destroying the field more than anything, but will sort stables out in the morning :)

Having same dilemma with mine - I don't finish work til 9 so if he comes in I'll be squidging through the mud in the dark!

I think it would be crazy to bring horses in that aren't usually stabled - wind rattling off everything and banging against stables would surely make them more worried especially as they can't move from it and are confined when they aren't used to it. Personally i wouldn't.

Thank you, that's made me feel better for leaving them out! they do need to start to come in soon though! the farmer said from Nov to Feb and I've blagged it this long! at least if they all go in the barn they are able to see each other over the top of the stables where as the other stables are completely private!!

I've brought the 3 mud monsters in today. I think they need a break and they seemed really pleased. They'll be back out 24/7 tomorrow until the next time the weather is really bad.

I hate thinking about them being inside when it's very windy. I worry about the roof blowing off the stables and similar things. At least in the field they can get away from anything blowing around.

this is true, the wind and rain has just picked right up again, and im feeling mean!!! hopefully the windy will blow the wetness away (if only)

Same here. There's no chance of me sleeping well tonight. Its hideous out there. Hope I can get through the massive puddle in the morning. Was difficult enough without this extra rain. Alarm is set for5.45.
