Katie is really struggling with her weight at the moment and my sharer (kind of a half owner who does most of the day to day stuff) and another owner at the yard have moved the horses onto a brand new patch of fresh spring grass, about an acre and a half. Now they have decided she is too fat and want to keep her indoors all day, with three hours turnout in the afternoon.
I'm a bit confused about this, I was expecting her to be kept on the grazed area as the grass is being kept nice and short and isn't too rich. Would she have been able to stay out all day on this? It's poo picked twice a day and it doesn't have any rough patches. I can't bear the thought of her being in all day when she could be out, albeit in a starvation kind of paddock.
What would you do, in or out?
