Evening all.
Coblet is kept with two other horses, who aren't as hardy (or their mum is a bit more particular?!), so they come in at night. I have been bringing her in too, as otherwise she'd be alone, but I'm wondering if she would be better left out as she seems flat in the stable? The other 2 are geldings, and tend to mither her if they are out together, so she keeps to herself as much as possible, but this is a rare situation, as she is such a good doer I've had her in her own paddock (with natural shelter and windbreak), on restricted/not great grass, as the boys don't have the same issues with their figures! She can still see them and they can groom etc over the fence if they wish, so it isn't solitary confinement. The boys also weave like crazy and one windsucks when in, and I'm concerned she'll pick up the habits they have, or just get stressed out watching them (I know I do!). What do you guys think? I'd prefer her out more, but I don't really know if my judgement is correct and I'll be causing an issue by doing so. I lack confidence in my decision-making! Thanks for reading.

Can she see them from the field when they are in?

Honestly I’d give it a go and see how she does, if she kicks off and screams then it’s likely not going to work but she might be like our mare who doesn’t care if she’s left on her own

They aren't that far away when stables, not able to see clearly because of the hedge, but they can talk without shouting! I hope she's like your mare, it would make things a lot easier!

Try if and see. One of mine likes peace and quiet and wouldn’t bother at all if he was out on his own. I think he’d mine if they suddenly all left the premises together but as long as he knows where the others are he’s happy.

It does make things easier but the gelding is the opposite. I can take him away but I can’t leave him. Which doesn’t matter too much as I can ride and lead off him, but once I’m riding her out I can’t lead him off her so he’s going to have to learn to stay behind

You could try bringing her in with them for a token tea, and then see how she feels about going back out again? It will probably be pretty clear whether or not she wants to go back out on her own, or whether she'd rather stay in with them.
