I'm in a very lucky postion that I have the most amazing young lady who is the YM where I keep my big grey pet.

Its a tough time at the moment weather wise and the credit crunch. But my YM is amazing as are the prople who work with her. I dont have to worry about my ned in any way with regard to T/O, fencing feed hay or his bed. Infact I hate to admit but she looks after him almost aswell as I do.

She work's bloody hard and I know that there are more like her out there.

a BIG thank you and I salute you all xx

My feild owner is amazing. Really, really nice lovely towards the horses. Our horses are out 24/7 aswell so bring us snow, storms, heavy rain, anything and ours are out. Shes really good making sure they all have hay .. there rugs are being changed etc putting more on if there cold etc. Love her .. her son gives me lessons aswell - very good horseman there! And lady lol xxxx

Thank you - having made a recent post about yard owners getting a rough deal on this forum, am very pleased to see your comments!!

My yard manager's are amazing too. All the 'extra's YM normally charge you for, feeding, rug change, turn out/bring in, much out etc I get free of charge whenever I need them. I trust my horse 100% with them, when he had a mozzie bite they brought him in everyday, cleaned it out, put cream on it, groomed him, did all his sweet itch stuff, fed him, and turned him out for nothing. This winter they feed him everyday (I don't even buy the feed!), do his hay and water and muck him out whenever I need them to, again for nothing. This morning I went up to muck him out and thought I would put his fleece on under his lightweight as it is so cold, I got up there to find they had already done it! I love my YM's!

mine is ace, were only on DIY but she came round in her big 4x4 picked us all up from our home addresses so we could do our neds today, then delivered us all home safely. big thank you to her!!!!

Funnily enough, my mate just called now to say she has sorted the girls for tonight and YO's are going round sorting out all horses and will do ours in the morning as its all turning to ice over the next few days says the weather. Save me travelling in the ice
Its a fairly large yard, just over 30 horses I think, and it seems they are tending to most of them, so yes, I too salute them for helping out at this tricky time

My YM and YO have also been brilliant.

Our fields and school are, at the moment, frozen ground, covered by a layer of think ice, covered by a layer of snow.

YM has built a 20 metre "circle of muck" in the nearest paddock for walking in hand, and some are even managing to lunge. Its absolutely genius. Plus the YO even helped with his digger even though it might mean the paddock needs re-seeding.

Mine is also great

Horses have been in since Sat pm thanks to solid ice everywhere and snow. She feeds and hays everything first thing, mucks them all out, puts some on the walker (the only lucky thing about having an arthiritic horse is that he gets 2 x walker sessions per day whilst he's in

). Everything is then hayed again before she goes home for lunch. When she comes back, they are all mucked out again, hayed again and fed, plus a final skip out before she leaves if required. I can't get down the lanes to the yard ATM with my car so she's doing mine on PL for as long as necessary.

The most important thing is that I trust her 100% to actually be mucking my horse out twice and giving him enough hay, which counts for a lot!

Same here my YO is brillian they have done all but 2 of the 20 horses this morning and all but three this afternoon. And they really care about them. Take my hat off to her and the team

Hear hear! My YM had to walk the 1.5 miles in the snow at 5 am this morning and made sure they all had a good run around in the indoor school whilst she mucked out. She also happens to be a really good mate and I moved to her yard because of her. I trust her 100% with K, he's my 1st horse and I far from know everything and she always helps me out without making me feel stupid and making me feel that I am doing a good job. Most importantly of all, my horse is happy and who can ask for more?!

I couldn't get to the yard today as I live about 12 miles away (although did try and got as far as the bottom of my drive)and my YO had no qualms about sorting my two boys out. I was impressed with not only what she did but also the way she was with me on the phone. Didn't make me feel guilty (though I obviously did) at all.

My Yard owner and her family have been brill in this weather, walking up a icy lane to check on all the horses each day and check hay and water troughs. They have allways run a very tidy school they have been our salvation this last 6 months since we bought Penny from them.

That's why I am at the yard I'm at
smile.gif
Might not have the best facilities but I know if I can't make it up due to weather, work or illness they will sort my boy for me without making a big fuss and dance about it.
Bless 'em one and all. I think a lot of us would be struggling without them

I agree the YO who looks after my horses is brilliant at looking after them and me! Before Christmas I had to abandon my car in the snow and I phoned for help, her partner picked me, they fed me and I stayed the night. She then helped me dig my car out the next day so I could get home.

Good to give YOs and staff a mention- I'm also very fortunate that the yard my girl is in on are also fantastic so a BIG thank you to YOs, YM and all staff

My YO is fantastic, she is kind, helpful and makes a wicked cuppa always just when you need it! She looks after my 2 exactly the same way as her own horses, what more could you ask for?

Mine is fantastic. She's been working like a demon and has been driving all over the place to collect grit and made sure horses have been getting out every day. She's a real problem solver and horse welfare is at the heart of everything she does. Last year she had a significant birthday bash and her (usually silent) son made a speech which summed her up totally. Working with horses is her passion and that is what makes her to go out in the driving sleet and snow in the pitch dark to make sure they are ok.

My horse is a field some distance from the yard and usually the track is driveable but not just now, so, as well as everything else she's been walking to the field to ensure that hay goes in, check horses etc. etc.

Everyone on the yard has been helping out as much as possible but she's the lynchpin that holds it all together - she also makes a mean soup!!

I agree - my YO dropped everything just before Christmas to take my old mare into the vet clinic when she colicked.
She then very kindly collected her for me, in the ice - all at no charge despite me being on DIY livery.
And this morning, I made it to the yard, but she was out doing other horses for the people who couldn't get there.
I hope she has the happiest of new years.

My YM is great too

If I can't get to the yard I know I can rely on him to feed Bella for me and makes sure she has no lumps and bumps etc

But he also knows that if he cannot get to the field himself for whatever reason we will make sure his sh*tlands are fed and hayed etc

Oh your naughty for sending her the link,

but I am grateful she is a superstar as is Pippa

My YO is also amazing!
She's helped me no end with my boy who can be difficult at the best of times and has given me and him loads of confidence.
She's helping me look for a saddle and has recommended lots of new people to help me and my boy overcome our problems and its going really well.
Its nice to have the support I've not really had from other yards before and I really love it at the yard as does my boy.

She really is amazing and I trust her with my horse 100% and I know that if I ask her to do him he will get done to my standards and I trust only three people in the world to do that!

Gosh, you are all so lucky.

My YM gets up to the (quickly inacessible) yard in her 4x4, sorts out her own horses, then leaves quicly before anyone can ring her and ask her to sort a horse out.

And I don't mean on a whim - plus, if less than 24 hours notice, you're charged double - so that's £7.50 for a bring in, let alone a muck out. I don't care about the money, when my fully clipped horse is out in deep snow. I'd pay whatever, to know he's ok. But I don't have that option. YM is gone home. Also presume she charges a full day's work to the YO.

It took me 4 hours to get home last night. Another livery and good friend got my boy in for me thank God, when I was sat in gridlock, not even knowing whether I'd make it home or not. The stress of not being able to rely on your YM, with a demanding full time job and hour's commute, is unbelievable. I pay a very high livery rate. If I wanted this stress, I'd buy a bloody field.

So yes, make the most of your ace YOs/YMs. Some of us really do not have it so good xx
