After alot of researching and meeting a couple of breeders etc we have found our puppy!

No pics yet..sorry, but pics galore on Monday when we get her.

There is so much advice out there my mind is whirring, so I was wondering what the recommended diet would be for a 8wk old pup and if anyone had any brilliant ideas to help her settle in I would be very thankful.

She will be crate trained and is coming with some of her current feed, but i just want to feed her, train her, treat her like the best etc

Whos the breeder? (PM if you prefer)

As the breeder is supplying food she has been weaned onto carry on feeding that as changing home will upset pups tum nevermind a change in diet.
Huskies as you`ll have probably have found out can suffer from senstive tums and it took me two years to find the right diet for my lot but BARF is not for everyone.
When our first baby came home he slept with one of OHs old sweatshirts and a teddy and that seemed to help him lots subsiquent pups have been raised and settled by the established dogs (I`m telling you now you`ll have more than one :D)

I know the others will be along with some great tips on how they settled their pups

Need picccies........................... :D :D

Thanks Cyrus, I was aware they have upset tums if your not careful. Breeder was v nice about it all and said she would give me a pack with lots of information about her feeding etc

Piccies on their way when I get off work computer!

Underestimation of the decade, I've ended up with one allergic to wheat, corn and rice - BARF all the way for mine now but ditto Cyrus on keeping pup on her current food for a while yet until she's well settled. In the future I'd think about a hypoallergenic food with a rice or potato carb source rather than wheat-based. Fish4Dogs is an excellent one (the only commercial food that doesn't give mine the runs!) and a lot of people here swear by Skinners, which has the advantage of being very good value.

Put a good thick blanket on her crate to block out the light, more so than other dogs they really appreciate a 'den' area, and ditto the smelly t-shirts and teddies to cuddle up to. The soft puppy teething Kongs are really good and can have cooked chicken smeared and pressed into the gaps to keep pup occupied while you're out of the room.

PICS! :D

Everytime I write this I lol:D:D as it's like im on comission:D but I have a 10 page puppy guide with advice on how best to settle new puppies in and loads more (I did them for all the rescue pups I have rehomed to save me babbling on):o, if you think it would help you can PM me with your e.mail addy and I will send it.
