I've tried several brands on and off in the past, usually because of money (shavings too expensive, straw too dusty)
This year as my stable gets damp in bad weather it decided to go down the pellet route again. This time ordering a pallet of 5 star directly from Eden and it's fabulous bedding!
So much better than the other similar priced brands I've tried. It stays a decent colour which was one thing I hated about Verdo in particular.
I've moved my other horses onto it now and can honestly say it's my bedding of choice rather than "I can't afford anything better".
So in answer to the are different brands better questions yes they are but you don't have to spend a fortune to get decent quality!
Highly recommend

Your post has just come at the right time. I need to get some more pellet bedding and had been wondering about changing. Thank you for your post. :D:D

I've gone back to Aquamax as all the other brands I tried were quite frankly rubbish. At present I have 2 stables in 24/7 use with cheaper bedding I was using a bag every 2 days, with Aquamax I use 2 bags a week :)

More expensive, but works out cheaper for me in the long run & beds loads better :)

Not heard if those u mentioned tho, will have a Google :D

I use 5 Star, I'm coming to the end of the pallet now so need to order more. I'm glad Eden are doing it, I was a bit worried I wouldn't be able to get it again after the problems last year. It's fab stuff.

It's strange you say that as I used to use Corley Bio Wood and then tried 5 Star through Eden and didn't notice any difference at all other than the 5 Star bags were bigger (15kg as opposed to 10kg) so I think I used more as a top up than I did with Corley.

I'm trying to get my YM to buy these as heard lots of good reviews and they do look lighter in colour, which does make the bed look nicer, she said she'd definitely look into them so will watch this tread with interest. Don't like the Verdo ones much.

I have only used verdo pelllets and have been happy with them. Please could you let me know why you don't like them or how other pellets are better.

For me they didnt seem so absorbent as Liverpool wood pellets which I'd previously used and being darker in colour the stable looked wet and dirty quite quickly, that said I love white fluffy beds so it's not to say Verdo aren't good just not for me really.

I used verdo for a few months & found they took ages to break down, a lot of the time I ended up watering them to get them to crumble, they also didn't absorb much wet & were very dark so it was hard mucking out in poor light as hard to tell what was actually dirty & what was 'clean', they beds also smelt quite piddle-y & I was using 3/4 bags a week :(

See I really like Liverpool pellets, lovely and white.
My boss used them too however she's switched to a cheaper, local supplier who does 10kg bags but if anything they're slightly better quality so looks like I'll be using them too! :)
