Hi All,

I put up a post a few weeks ago asking if anyone recognised my pony Bella who I sold last summer, well it was a long shot and I didn't get any replies, but today I got a call from someone who has just bought her FROM A MEAT MAN at Melton Market.

I am in shock. I sold her to someone that i 'knew', and to cut a long story short, she didn't settle there but I was not in a financial position to take her back for the full amount she paid for her. The lady threatened to sell her to the meat man, at which point I offered her the meat money to save her, but she refused and instead started to sue me. In my correspondence with her solicitor I again repeated my offer to buy her back to save her from the meat man, as well as defend the case she had against me. This was a few months ago and it all went quiet so I did wonder what had happened and have been trying to find out, hence my earlier post.

I am disgusted that someone would sell a perfectly good pony to the meat man just because for some reason she did not settle. We even offered to take her back for more money that she will have got by selling her to the meat man so how it has ended up this way I do not know. It makes me so sad thinking that she has been passed around in this way.:(

Anyway, the happy ending is the man traced me on the internet through her name on my original H&H advert advertising her, and they have given her a good home and they love her - they cannot believe that a pony like her ended up at the markets. They have said I can go and see her which is great, I am just so relieved that they have saved her and it sounds like she will have a loving home again.:D:D:D

Sorry for the long rant I am just still in shock, thanks for reading. It will definitely make me think twice before selling a pony again as all I ever wanted for her was a good home.

That is horrendous!! Really brings home that you have no control over a horse once you sell it :( Thank God the story had a happy ending and pony is in a home where she will be looked after and you can keep in touch.

I find it disgusting that someone would knowingly sell a pony for meat like that...

She was suing me as she said I had mis-sold her which I can honestly put my hand on my heart and say I didn't, I was as honest as I could possibly be as I wanted her to go to the right home.

Have been in a similar position, OP and can so relate to being as open as possible but having a buyer completely ignore things. You must be so relieved that it all turned out ok. Sadly, I never found out what happened to my pony. I just know his last whereabouts was the Isle of Wight. At the time I couldn't afford to buy him back from the dealer he was passed on to (he was sold on in a week).

Yeah I will def try to get some pics. Here are some links to her when I had her :D:

I am still absolutely in shock!

To think some people would stoop to measures like that just to get at someone (as in not sell the pony back to you) despite what ever reasons.

Glad there was a happy ending.
