In showing terms what is a 'Cuddy'

As title really.

Ive been looking through horsey ads and they refer to the above term when referring to showing but I havent got a clue what they mean.

Could someone please educate me

It refers to the Cuddy in hand showing championships i think..

I think it must be the sponsors name too as they have a working hunter Cuddy class aswell.

It is the in hand championships that has its final at The Horse of the Year show. Qualifyers are held throughout the showing season and those that qualify are at the top of their game. It is open the stalions ,mares ,brood mares with foals at foot and youngstock ,classes are split into pony/horse sections. It is a fantastic class to follow throughout the season and the final always has a superb selection of real quality animals.Hope this helps.

I am from Northumberland and cuddy is an old Geordie word for horse. You do not hear it much at all these days!!!

Cuddy is another word for hedge sparrow is yorkshire.....
