...that I taught ONE of the dogs to 'out'.

There is a very lucky cat sat at home tonight because one of the two dogs has been taught to drop whatever he has in his mouth on command.
The other, main offender, and I, shall be commencing focus boot camp next week!

Food for thought, cat wouldn't be alive if B hadn't been trained in that manner, if they both had been trained in that manner, the cat would not have been injured.
Her sitting in front of the dog runs sunning herself didn't help either

**I have ummed and ahed about posting this but hey, you have to take the rough with the smooth - I don't need any lectures, feel bad enough as it is and no, she is not a potential unmitigated child-killer and should be PTS, she is a dog, with a high prey drive, it happened on our property involving our animals and I shall endeavour to put a lot more work into this - although I doubt it would have happened if I had been present**

To be honest, the vet didn't seem to think she had any puncture wounds at all but apparently so I don't know how serious they were - B let go immediately he was told and then she chased and caught it again, so I don't know who out of the three females present is being the biggest drama queen :p

I'm sure most sensible dog owners will understand the situation, I'm very impressed that Bodo dropped on command. In the last week Evie has had a rabbit and a pigeon, in both instances I wasn't actually there when she caught them, but even if I had been not sure I would have been able to stop her. She luckily adores the cats, and Buffy is okay with them, Saffy though would certainly grab them if the opportunity arose, and I wasn't right up there with her to stop them. The difference between the 3 dogs is that Saff is in a kennel and run most of the time and the cats torment her, think sitting on the roof of her run! Although I would be devastated if an accident did happen I couldn't really blame Saffy .

Hugs for you and a healing vibe or two to cat :)

Good luck with Bella's boot camp  but at least you can take some solace in the fact that 50% of your slopey-backed cripples listened to you :p

Im glad the little puddy cat is ok, these things happen, my akita once took a cat in her kennel and proceeded to chew it like a spare rib, said cat was already dead:D, very elderly and had died in the garden, basically anything she find is fair keeps, so she smuggles it back to her kennel, we have found a fair stash of birds in there, inc a duckling that wondered in from the house over the back:eek::o and a chicken, when OH brought them home from stable, they began to roost on the ledge of her kennel:rolleyes:
Animals will be animals we can never predict their ever move or motion:)

I think I have qouted instead of correcting my spelling....LMAO:o

Spiv! She is in the dog crate in the living room and has been very vocal about how much she does not like it, back to her gobby self (why are all the females in my house gobby?!) so she is going to be fine, hopefully!

I don't trust either of mine with cats, if it moves, they'll chase it and mine are not trained well enough to drop without crunching first.
So the fact he dropped it mainly unhurt is good going :)
