My castrated Yorkie is insistent he wants to mate with my speyed Springer Spaniel this evening. He is being really persistent, I've never seen him in this mood before! He is 3 1/2 years old and we have had him 3 years. My Spaniel is 7 and normally keeps him in check. I thought castration deals with these urges but obviously not. Any suggestions before he gets his head bitten off?

Lift him and put him out of the room for a while? Repeat until he stops?

Do you voice-check him? Although you don't want to punish the springer for something she didn't do - my female always reacts to me when I admonish her brother and he rarely does

If my two are gadding about I normally use my voice or a harsh noise (slap a lead against my wellyboot etc).
With mine it is just sibling rough and tumble, he has been castrated.

As above to reprimand him.......castrated dogs can still display this behaviour esp if a punginty smell is being let off, she may have passed a little discharge that has set him off.

My female can usually stand up for herself but sometimes B tries to go to far and that is when I step in before she gets snappy and hurts him out of self-defence.
You know yourself and you can read it in them when one of them over-steps the mark.
