Inappropriate underwear

Made that mistake once. 3 hour hack. Not nice

Made that mistake competing once with barely there underwear - It made sitting trot practically impossible. They went in the bin so I didn't make the same mistake again!

Never mind the wrong knickers - what about riding in the wrong bra? I got told off by my (female) instructor a few months ago for, ahem, "bouncing" too much so when I realised that I was wearing very unsupportive underwear for last week's lesson I was a bit worried. I had the brilliant idea of wrapping my neoprene back protector round my top half though and bingo(!) it worked brilliantly. No bounce at all. Maybe I should think about launching my own range of neoprene undies? Just the thing for the forthcoming colder months but maybe a bit overly heating for summer?

I do that all the time with french knickers! God they hurt. i have to stop every 5 seconds when schooling to re-adjust! Not a good look when the farmer is around!

after several attempts with different forms of underwear i've found the 'shorts' or girlie boxers are the best way to go... but its the forward planning that always undoes me - remembering that i am riding in the evening so i don't wear unsuitable stuff to work that day!! thongs aren't an option i have to change in my stable and its all a bit too revealing when YO's son happens to wander past - which he does with alarming accuracy!!!

Hey Jules,
I have tried the rider-specific pants and they weren't that good. Cut into the tops of my thighs something awful!
They shrink too, when you wash them, so a big thumbs down from me, I'm afraid.

I'm always getting saddle sores, I think because I can't sit still enough.
Best thing I have found is riding tights and no knickers at all.
Liberal quantities of vaseline help, but don't use too much or you'll stain your saddle.
And before you ask, I'm one of the mad endurance bunch, prone to spending 3-4 hours in the saddle at a time.
You need to get the right knicker combination!

Oh, and if anyone can tell me how to sit still and avoid the saddle sores, I'd be delighted to know!!!!

hey thanks mintakamint for the heads up, but now I am rather stumped. I was advised by a doctor to "pad up" down there

but I don't know how to go about this...arghh

Seat savers will work, if you can get a good one that will stay still.
I would advise getting a pure wool or real sheepskin one as the synthetic ones are sooooo sweaty.
Jules, why don't you try riding tights, they have padded seats.
Carousel make them for endurance riders.

Oh, I once tried cycling shorts on under my jods, but ended up with acres of sweat rash, so I wouldn't recommend them either!!
