Further news re above: ICC is allegedly arriving on "Thursday or Friday - I'll let you know."
AIBU to want to know which day and approximately what time? I'll need to be by the barrier to let cat and driver into our small car park and ensure that driver doesn't slip in/run away/end up in the wrong bit of the yard. (There Be Dragons . . .)
They will then have to negotiate the pontoons, over the plank, along the narrow side deck and into the wheelhouse.
I thought I'd leave all CC food and litter stuff there, so she could come down in her own time.
Alternatively, I could put her in the saloon, where there is a large, completely covered dog cage in which she can retreat.
I'll obviously give my mobile number, because we're off the beaten track.
My cat friend who brokered the deal has said not to bother High Powered Client, so I'm a bit wary of going via her.
Advice, Oh Wise Ones?
The driver is, apparently, likely to burst into tears because it's his CC and he loves it.

You are not being remotely unreasonable and it all sounds irritatingly casual and 'at their convenience' but I suppose some folk would not be invested in the same way. I think asking for a text/call from the driver explaining that you will need to help negotiate entry arrangements is the best way to go and I am sure the driver will be reassured by that too. I really hope it goes ok - it will be lovely for you to have another personage sharing your boat. Poor puss-cat too; an upheaval for her but I am sure she will be very lucky in her new home.

Apparently, it could stand for Chubby Cat! Apparently, the examining vet said that CC "could do with losing a few pounds . . ." Poor creature. Not good for the self-esteem.
I've just had a text saying that CC is arriving tomorrow. Eeek! Must muck out aft cabin. It looks like a small library with an over-duvet-covered bunk circled by mugs of tea, notebooks and newspapers.
I hope that The Husband isn't too horrified by the environment into which his precious cat is going to live. She won't be going out for 6-8 weeks, but it's completely different to the large, busy, dog-strewn mansion that she's been used to.
Oh well. At least it will quiet, and she can take her own time in coming to terms with the changes.
Wish us luck!

Good luck with the new arrival, but I am sure you won't need it. CC will soon see that you are a very well trained Servant!

Do I remember you saying that she is a bit of a timid cat? If she has come from a very large and busy house, it may be that your quiet environs actually suit her better and she will come out of herself. This is what happened with one of mine- at the rescue, he was very shy and scared, and always hid at the back of the enclosure. After a couple of months here he was like a different cat!

Must admit i am slightly more cautious, if Kevin Kat has chosen this Queen Kat, she will not be easy, but he did train you well to obey and cater to all her demands.
I do look forward to reading about her idiosyncrasies, and any further training that she insists you need.
Good luck whichever day she shows her presence.

Thanks for your collective support. Apparently, the husband has been crying a lot. Poor bloke.
I plan to pour coffee down him and shuffle him off within the hour. Hope he doesn't need the loo - it's what is known in polite circles as a "bucket 'n' chuck it". I'll direct him to the shower block at the top of the yard if he does.
I feel really sad for him.

I hope that CC delivery today goes smoothly and without drama. However if King Kevin Kat is stirring things drama is to be expected.

Then both you and CC settle down to getting to know each other.

Perhaps Clairvoyant Cat has picked up the vibes that this is a pretty cool gaf, and get your feet under the table as soon as possible! I wouldn't worry about her size - my old cat tipped the scales at over 4 kilos, but as the vet's cat was over 5 kilos, she couldn't really offer any constructive advice.

If you want to share an image @Ratface , and bump into image size problem again, Flickr have a free uploading option which is easy to use, and lets you choose image size on what you copy from their site to share elsewhere.

I have an account both there, and on Imgbox a site free to use, and currently limitless to how much you upload, but their options are fewer than on e.g. Flickr, and you have to figure out yourself how to copy the photos from their site to share somewhere else. But I probably make it sound worse than it is, just be a little stubborn, click and try this, click and try that, and it didn't take me that long to figure out something that worked. Although HHO have been making me work a bit more on my photo sharing skills after the recent upgrade.

Otherwise, I'm sure Maxidoodle would be happy to help you again like she did on Kevin's portrait thread, or if she's busy, just PM me, and I'd be happy to try helping you.
I'm sure there's others who also would volunteer to help you if you want to.

Thank you, merry band of Mates In The Ether!
Well. CC is here. I won't upload pics yet, as the previous owner is very vulnerable atm and if s/he came across it it might push them over the edge.
King Kevin Kat is keeping schtum at the moment as well, but I don't think that will last long.
CC has wandered about, got her whiskers covered in cobwebs as she decided that curling up behind the wood burner was best. She did try climbing up inside the space that holds the flue but she's too stout, so came back down in an inelegant flumpf.
I've arranged a tasty little banquet for her, but she's declined it. It'll keep. Litter box equally ignored.
I'm away to my bunk

Can't wait to see photos of CC, what colour is she?
She's described as a white tabby on her Identikit microchip document.
She's white with a tabby tail, tabby ears and a tabby Hitler-type moustache. Yellow-green eyes.
Listening to her previous owner, she was fine until their current partner, children, and other animals arrived in their life. Both PO and CC were overwhelmed and retreated. Children and other animals held sway and partner calls all the shots.
Very sad for PO, but, once settled, I hope that CC will be satisfied with their new berth.

Aww, she sounds like a beauty 😍, and at least she's not so timid that she didn't wander about a little looking for a good spot to sleep/hide.

Her ex owner sounds timid, too. He might love CC deeply, but it really seems in her best interest to change home. Hopefully CC soon begins to appreciate that she once again finds herself in the type of calmer environment which she's used to.

Sounds as if life was totally disrupted due to no fault of her own, poor little thing! Once settled she’s going to find the peace and the harmony with you absolute bliss. Bless her, she doesn’t yet know what a lovely life is in store…. And the OP will take much comfort from that too.
