How old boxer (rip libby) was slightly incontinent and wesimply changed her onto a diferent food, We put her on Gusto biscuits and she did very well on them, we used to mix gravey in and leave it to go soft in the later years but its stop the incontinence, sorry i know nothing about infections

Hi Prudunce,

Our old collie bitch started to become incontinent, then got cystitis. Our vet explained that, as the opening is - er a little bit more open than it should be - that infection gets in more easily. He put her on homeopathic stuff long term, an anti-alkaline (or acidic?) medication to neutralise the pH of her urine + stop cystitis, + HRT twice/week (to help hormonal/muscle control of bladder function).

She's fine, but now, rather than dribbling wee, she now asks to go out at 3/4 am!! (Causing inevitable marital disputes about whose turn it is.....!!)

We had a much loved old dog, who had urinary stones in his teens (some 15 years ago), + while he had to have surgery, he very much benefited from Hills food afterwards + didn't need surgery after we changed his diet - to the best of my recollection. (Thanks for reminding me!) We enjoyed his company until his late teens.

Hoping we've helped, and very much hoping your old girl is ok - maybe your vet can help more? All bests, + love to the old girl, BS x
