Indestructable dogs beds

I have an 18month and a 5 year old lab.

Ever since owning both of them I seem to have spent hundreds on beds for them.

I tried to plastic type ones with blankets from the charity shops ( the blankets end up shredded) but they are quite big and bulky and now with 2 in a smallish bungalow they take up too much room.

I've tried ones with covers ( they got wrecked ) and ones without ( the foam ended up all over my poor house) I've tried vet bed (which so far has been the most robust) and more recently bought 2 (quite expensive) made from a similar material to horses rugs but they chewed the zips and the filling ends up everywhere!!

I am beginning to think no beds at all as I am fed up of clearing up after them but I have ( or will have soon) slate flooring so quite hard for the poor little bed wreckers to sleep on!!

Any ideas??
 
Might be worth just using cheap blankets (several so there is a cushion) or duvet until they have finished being destructive. Mine have the foam sided beds but as they are in the bedroom don't tend to get eaten!!
 
Yes I THINK its the young dog being destructive as the older one had grown out of chewing when I got him at 9 months old!! I have a feeling he will NEVER grow out of it though!!
 
Well my 11 year old ridgeback would kill my soft toys if I left any within her reach. Yes I am a sad old fool who has loads of the things!! Luckily she did stop destroying everything else!! :eek:
 
Sorry I have any suggestions. My labs were the same they destroyed everything they were given, I just ended up getting them really cheap beds from the market. The good news is they did eventually grow out of it. I think it is just a lab thing
 
I used to use the blankets and plastic beds too but found they got soggy quickly in the winter, also tried vet bed which wasn't bad and so far has lasted the longest, also used cheap beds from market - they lasted a week on average - so ended up being expensive!!, so forked out a heap for 6 huge waterproof tuffies - wouldn't bother again to be honest - they got chewed and de-stuffed and the ones that weren't chewed didn't stay waterproof for more than a year - went to wash them after winter and they soaked up so much water I couldn't lift the darn things - had to chuck them out!!! So for the summer they are back out in the barn on straw - have no idea what to use this winter - is there such a thing as an indestructible dog bed!!!:D??
 
I use Tuffies beds, very similar to Kudos above. They are expensive but I have had mine for over 5 years and even Evie hasn't managed to destroy them (although she has chewed a couple of the corners so they can't be hosed down anymore:().
 
I have a Golden Retriever - the word "indestructible" means nothing I'm afraid!!
They have a similiar obsession with beds to labs!
Our poor GSD has to lie on the chewed bits - wherever there are the most built up to get some padding!! :o

ETA....My girls are 10 (GSD) and 8 (Goldie) now and *fingers crossed* the beds get chewed about approx once every 2-4 months now...its nowhere near as bad as it was!!
