I like to obsess about trivial things and plan stuff in the most minute detail, so today my obsession is planning my individual show. I expect tomorrow's obsession will be practising it until Porridge gets thoroughly sick of me and dumps me.

Do you have a tried and tested individual show that you stick to every time? What do you do?

Short and sweet is the best way to do an individual show!

I stand on the centre line infront of the judge. Halt salute, walk away turn, trot back, track onto the weaker of the horses two reins (generally left for mine) trot half a circle, canter half a circle. Trot, change the rein across the circle. Trot half a circle, canter half a circle, gallop/extend down the long side if possible, trot back down centre line. Halt and salute infront of the jude. Also fit in any other requirements asked by the judge within the show!

Mine is dead simple due to severe memory difficulties (middle age!!)- Halt in front of judge walk sharply away trot transition and trot accros the diagonal (better to trot across the diagonal than round the edge minimises spooking opportunities and you can really move them on) then figure of eight in canter (if there is time circle at each end of the 8 but not to crucial) a change in the middle if you can get it but through trot if not. Following last canter move them on a bit to show a bit of a gallop along a long side, trot then walk halt in front of judge side on.

The best of luck - think of me doing this tommorow baby horse 1st show/outing on grass, expecting a few fireworks! Eeeek!

I tend to do something along the lines of those above! However I will turn as if going from E to B and ask for canter, then I can turn whichever way she strikes, as Genie doesn't always listen in the first canter of an individual show. Naughty I know, but no rule against it!
