He's bloody awesome!! If you have the pennies and a good enough mare to warrent it, then you can't get a much better SJ sire atm. Plus his stock are fashionable atm, so there should be a market for the resulting foal, should you decide to sell.

As for what they are like, I've never had the pleasure of meeting or working with an Indoctro baby, but they sure seem talented!

what makes him "awesome"? good track record with his own career, but for example Handel 11 has had a good career and excellent record at producing top jumping "babies". so why is indoctro so IN, what is it that makes him so special????

its not like he's an olympic horse producing IT/grand prix babies

My mare is 17.2hh dutch warmblood by Harcos (Narcos 11)
excellent stock and would like to introduce Ram Z lines so indoctro seems a good choice, but need something that produces babies that really tuck up at front as virama is a bit loose. makes up for it with her scope but there are things that could be improved.

BELOW IS DIRECT FROM THE VDL STUD WEBSITE - I think you will find this answers all your questions. Indoctro is the top showjumping sire in Holland and ranked top in Holstein, Germany. He was withdrawn from high level sport because he was far more valuable as a breeding sire. His stud fees alone each year bring in over £750,000 to VDL Stud!!

"After a successful jumping career Indoctro, Champion of the stallion test, has been used completely for breeding. And with success: at the age of 16 he received the title: ‘Preferent’.

This is demonstrated in such champions as: Operette - Champion of the Central Keuring of Groningen; Olympia - Dutch Champion; Ocinthe - Friesland 2 year old Champion; Noblesse - Champion of the Central Keuring of Flevoland; and Orame - Champion of the Stallion Selection in 1999. He already has many approved sons of which No Limit and Orame became Stallion Test Champions. In 2005 the KWPN approved two sons again.

Some of Indoctro’s progeny who perform in the front row in the championships for young jumpers and who jump nationally are: Wallace C who won the national free jumping Championship in Spain, Ultimate VDL-R.Vos, Dutch Champion of the 4 Year old jumpers, Fairbanks Catargo was Australian Champion of the 5 year old jumpers, Rowan with K. Farrington was champion of the 7 and 8 year olds of the Eastern League final in USA, Richmond Hill with M.Buurmans was Reserve World Champion of the 7 Year old jumpers in Lanaken. Several others did very well at the young horse championships.

Top international results are demonstrated by: Nassau with J.Dubbeldam who was KWPN Horse of the Year 2005 and won the Individual and Team Bronze at the European Championship in San Patrigano, Nike with K.Offel qualified for the final of European Championship and also reached the final of the Olympic Games in Athens with his rider Yuka Watanabe, Casadora with L.Hough 2nd Grand Prix Wellington, Nadia with G. Bloomberg winner of Challenge Cup in Wellington, VDL Orame with J.Vrieling member of Dutch Nation Cup Team that won in Falserbo, VDL Oscar and Picolien Zeldenrust with F. Chesler, Youp with L. Howard, Orleen with L. Howard, October with K. van Nieuwenhuizen, Nobel with M. v/d Vleuten (NL), VDL Orestus with G. Puck one of the winners of the Puissance in Madrid, VDL Masserati with M.van Asten, Odile with E. Smits, Oderike with A. Zoer (Nl), VDL Montreal with J. Vrieling (Nl), Minka’s Diamond with E. Tacken (Nl), No Limit with M. van Asten (NL) etc.

Jumping Index in Germany: 161, Indoctro is for the 2nd time in row at the 2nd place of German’s top sires. With this index he has the highest Index of the Holstein Studbook.

Jumping Index in The Netherlands: 142 with 96% reliability.

Indoctro is truly a ‘Breeding Stallion."
