Hi, i am new to the forum but am just looking for any thoughts/advice on Indorado offspring. We have a 6 year old gelding Indorado/Iroko who although very talented over a fence is proving to be very difficult. He was tricky to break and has continued to be difficult, constantly asking questions and with a really bad attitude although is lovely on the ground. Had usual vet checks etc and there is nothing physically wrong with him but just don't know how long we can expect his tantrums to last! None of our other youngsters have ever been as difficult and i just wondered if it is an Indorado thing ??

Hi,

I have a grand daughter of indorado. And she is due to be broken next month, but she has her quirks, but has only questioned things when she is confused. once she has understood it she has been gracefull and willing and loves its. In general all KWPN horses are quirky and need constant work and reaffirmation, but mine is loving and isn't cold backed. so I can see some trates smilar but others not...

Hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for your experiences with your horse, but ours was also very good until it came to backing and breaking and thats when the antics started !
He is beautifully mannered on the ground and to be handled and never asks questions until he is being ridden or lunged.
We will continue to persevere as he is talented and we are making very small amounts of progress, but i do appreciate anyone's thoughts or experiences with a similar problem.
Thanks

The yard i keep mine at often import young 3/4 year old from holland. All well bred. They believe in little and often and all are worked a min of 6 days per week - or if in training 7 days at a max of 1/2 an hour per time. I wish you luck with your baby - it will be worth it in the end....or that is what i keep telling myself.

Also I have found with working mine, if i mix up her work regularlly she doesn't get bored and hence doesn't seem to try her antics out or get chance too. As she is a good 16.3 - 17 h now and will be 3 in june... All the offspring from Indorado I have me seem to be very intelligent and so need to have small tasks to do everyday, whether it is ridden, groundwork or just some new game in the stable. I taught mine to eat carrots as I was holding them in mouth.

I know one horse by indorado who is lovely very quiet and ridden by a nervous teenager. I might be wrong but I believe that KWPN is a stud book rather than a breed so there can be quite a range of a different stamp of horses. I have two KWPN horses at the moment who are very different In temp and type. Best of luck with your young horse op :) x
