I have to go to Nogent le Rotrou over the summer and apparently that is Percheron territory - exciting! Does anyone know of somewhere I could ride/drive/generally have a little look at some or are they only kept for meat there these days?

Thanks!

Just realized that asking on here about French meat horses is likely to sound controversial... I promise I just want to know if there is anywhere people have been to ride them. I'm not planning on sneaking a heavy horse back in my handbag or anything!

Well, as Nogent is the capital of La Perche you will be in the right place, I would start with the Haras du Pin in Normandy, they have various stallions there, there will robably be a link from there for Percherons (although I think they have them there) there is also a poster up somewhere I saw for an "exposition" of working horses but can't remember where I saw it, it was definitley in Normandy though. If you need any more help pm me and I'll see what I can do.
