My 18yr old horse has a on her submandibular jaw, she has had ultrasound, biopsy and ct scan which showed it to be an infected lymph node. Vet prescribed one month of antibiotics but no improvement. Has anyone else’s horse had one of these and what treatment if any did you go for? Many thanks

I have a livery here that has enlarged lymph nodes, mainly in the jaw but at times in various other areas, they are not infected as such but are overactive for some reason, she had a couple of courses of different antibiotics which helped reduce them but they didn't settle completely, one was removed for biopsy which was inconclusive, she has been scoped, scanned and had various other tests and treatments but in the end as she is fit, well and happy in her work it was decided to leave them be, if they were obviously infected it would have to be treated and I would expect a swab to be taken to get the correct antibiotic to target the infection.
