Posted last week how my 9 year old highland had infection / cellulitis in her wither area which yes i know is not normal / common in horses. This is the 3rd time in 12 months that she has had it in same place.
Believed to maybe have come from some trauma to that area new vet thinks chance of boney change under there to cause the pain. She has a iv antibiotic injection and a 10 day course of powder ones have 2 days left of them now. Her wither area has only just stopped swelling up a day ago, she is happy to let you touch the area now and is only on one danilon a day. Also been using steroid gel type cream on the area as well.
However she now has a slightly raised temp of 38.4 at the moment her temp is normally 37.5 when taken only changes when ill. Had to record her temp each week last year when she got ill for vet so know what it should be for her. Was wondering if this is something else or related to the first issue. She is not a happy pony at the moment as well, yet she is letting me touch back without kicking me or biting which she normally does at the start.
Have text vet, just wondered what anyone else thought of it? Hoping to x-ray the area after new year to see what is going on.
