They are called the Sarsgrove Harriers and were in the Heythrop country. They have hunted by invitation all over the country so used to most country I suspect. They are a bit smaller than hounds and sound slightly different!! I went out with them in the Cattistock country and they flew all day.

So we've got 17 1/2 couple from then I here?

Hope they are good hounds - with all the puppies this year you'll have plenty to play with! :)

we have got 12 1/2 i think not 17 1/2 we have got them but not sure how they are getting used yet. they are really nice placid hounds really nice markings.

they look like really well built hounds in the sense of built more for stamina than for speed.

Sorry then for my rather basic post above - "They are a bit smaller than hounds and sound slightly different!!".

I've been out with them in the Cottesmore country and the Cattistock and they hunted briliantly all day. Chris Bowld who hunted them at the Sarsgrove did a brill job and they def. provide good sport. They flew all day. I should think you'll be pleased with the way they work!!

Why on earth would a perfect establish pack of hounds. That alot of people have put alot of hard work into on the breeding side.

Go & take on a nearly full pack of hounds that is made up from mixes from all over?

It is not to be seen as a good thing IMHO.

The breeding is not been crossed over into the original rockwood pack as far as i know, on the whole the sarsgrove are quite a level pack, they so far seem to have a good level head on them and have excellent temprements. they are very well marked, and a pleasure to have in kennels. all reports ive heard on their ability to hunt so far have been positive so i have no reason to believe that they will be anything but an assett to the Rockwood harriers kennels.

your also forgetting or may not of known the sarsgrove was originally made from a good percentage of rockwood blood.

So I take it the Rockwood have to much hunting for the original pack to cope with thus needing a '2nd' pack to hunt with????

You obv have your own personal problems with rockwood and ive got a fairly good suspision on who it is. therefore you will know that due to one thing and another we were low on hound numbers in kennels we lost a bitch that was in pup resulting in the loss off of 1 very good bitch and however many pups she was to have, We needed a boost in our hound number as we have not been able to turn out as many hounds as we need, as soon as we have had a few hot bitches we are below the number of hounds we need to be turning out. this will give us an adequate boost meaning we dont need to put any silly numbers of bitches in pup. thus putting less pressure on finding puppy walkers and we can concentrate on the specific breeding to which we have kept our fabulous pack of hounds.

anything else?

sorry everyone else reading this post thanks for all your info and anymore would be great

I have no personal problems with the Rockwood or yourself. I have no dealings with them what so ever. I am from the other end of the country all together.

My problem as you call it, is taking on practically another full pack when you have your own.
You have lost one bitch/litter (she may well of been only carrying one whelp) & that then equats to you being a pack short...

Personally I would be looking in kennels & not at the hounds.
