There were lots of discussions about shod horses and snow during our recent weather drama and a couple of people asked about "snowball pads". I did finally find a source here but it was difficult and they had very little stock. So I was interested to see in the www.rideaway.co.uk catalogue what they call "hoof cushions", which are, I'm almost certain, snowball pads!! They are horse shoe shaped but have a "tube" channel around the inside edge, which compresses and "pops" the snow out as well as lining the metal so snow doesn't stick.
Hopefully no one will need to know but something to make a note of in case we have similar weather next year.
