wanting any information on my old mare. her passported name is madam pirie but stable name is sadie freezemark is 1LD7. she is 21 (1989) chestnut mare with a white blaze irish bred with irish horse register passport. her sire is leabeg (ish) and dam is temple dandy (1807846).
not sure when she was brought over from ireland but her first set of vaccinations were in 2003 in kilmeston hants by the vet practice j.g stewart MRCVS. she only has 3 registered owners (one of these being me and other two over in ireland). I have written to the two other owners but only had one reply from a man who owned her from being one to three and half (he bred a foal from her at two years old then sold her when foaled was weaned). She was bought out of derby sale in 2006 by the lady i bought her off (she was put through the sale by a dealer who was claiming she was then seven years old, he/she had tried to change the 8 to a 9 with pencil to make her look younger). I have owned her since sep 2006 and she will be staying with me.
she has a lovely quiet temperament with lovely manners (little bit headshy at times). brilliant to ride but can rush a bit on the way home. she suffers from laryngeal paralysis (i did no when i bought her but i only wanted her for a light hack/companion) any info would be greatly appreciated as i nearly lost her a fortnight ago and its shook me into finding out about her history. She is a middle weight type and has been well schooled at some point. Im guessing she may have been used as a hunting horse as she is built for it
sorry for the long thread

How is she responding to her new treatment? I have been wondering at the diagnosis too, as you haven't updated your previous posts.

hi, sorry no secrecy just been really busy and havent really got an update for you as yet. she was diagnosed with bilateral larynx paralysis rather thatn unilateral (spelling). We are treating this with sedatives and anti inflamatorys but we are still playing around with the dose of the sedative that suits her so she not falling asleep or not enough so its doing nothing. When we hit the nail on the head with the dosage and shes been on it a few days and we can see how she responds i will post. but so far so good shes alot happier, her breathing is settling and she even trotted off across the field the other morning which i havent seen her do for some months

Thanks for the update!! It's always good to know how horses are progressing, and often threads don't get updated so you never know the outcome, and everyone can learn from other's experiences.
Glad she's feeling better, and all the best of luck with her.
